This clinic is for riders looking to learn or refine their ability to perform key foundation maneuvers to take their riding to the next level. We'll learn how to use body weight and bike suspension to perform wheel lifts so that you can hop over obstacles and/or lighten the bike when appropriate to ride more challenging sections of trail more smoothly and efficiently. We will also cover proper technique and body position for roll downs as well as slow, tight turns.
The skills and maneuvers you will learn in this clinic will not only improve your current riding, they are also important building blocks for future progression into jumps, drops, bunny hops, endos, and manuals.
In this clinic, you will learn how and when to execute the following tech maneuvers:
Prerequisites: You should be comfortable with the fundamental skills of neutral and ready positions. The clinic includes a brief refresher, but if you are not at all familiar with neutral and ready positions you should take the MTB Fundamentals clinic first. Beginning riders should take the MTB Fundamentals clinic first.
This clinic is best on a relatively modern mountain bike (full suspension or hardtail) with good and properly maintained suspension; old 26ers with vintage forks or shocks won't be nearly as fun or effective. We will do a brief suspension overview at the beginning of the session, so if you aren't sure that your suspension setup is correct we will address that in the clinic.
